Spouse
Spouse is a band that follows in the tradition of late 80's/early 90's indie rock. The band was founded in 1995 by José Ayerve. The rotating cast of musicians has at times stretched wide enough to include 15 strong, though typically the band tours as a trio. Their latest incarnation includes long-time members: Dan Pollard, Naomi Hamby, JJ O'Connell, and Ken Maiuri, [often joined by Lo Fine frontman, Kevin O'Rourke]. The group has recorded and promoted several albums and singles to date, and will be celebrating the release their 5th full-length effort, "Confidence" on May 18, 2010. This album marks their first collaboration with the Austin, TX - based, Nine Mile Records.

Ike Reilly Assassination
Hard luck stories. Everybody’s got them or heard them, but it takes a special mind and wit to share them with the lyrical dexterity and aplomb that have become the hallmarks (and trademarks) of Ike Reilly’s critically-lauded records. Reilly’s a raconteur; to be sure, his songs ache and explode with a gritty realism to which everyone can relate on some level. His latest solo offering, entitled “Hard Luck Stories” – a more groove-oriented and melodic album than previous recordings – is a combination of corroded R & B, furious punk-blues, lounge-pop and classic rock, all laced with giant choruses.

Standard Fare
From Sheffield, UK--"Standard Fare crank out their gritty Britpop with the conviction of a group of kids convinced they're the first ones ever harboring such intense emotions. And that's the kind of passion needed to distinguish a record like this from the pack."

The Lawsuits
In a world saturated by auto-tune, The Lawsuits embrace good old fashioned rock 'n' roll. Hailing from Bucks County, PA, The Lawsuits combine the musicianship of The Band, the catchiness of the Beach Boys, and songwriting that Dylan would be proud of.

Man, where do you begin with Chronicles of the Landsquid ? Progressive space jazz comes to mind. Odessa Stair
Odessa Stair is a mixture of 1/2 mythology, 1/3 repressed rage, and 3/4 boredom. Formed under mysterious circumstances in the summer of 2009, they have since delivered a barrage of haunting, poignant music to willing (and sometimes unwilling) listeners. Stevey Majors: Enjoys autumn days, smooth jazz, and animal sacrifices. He is best known for being the foremost Rhapsoby aficionado in North America, and is a prominent monorail tycoon. Steve is a Rosicrucian and has spent a year in Malta, meditating. Dan Higgins: Sometimes called Dan the Vengeful, he is a man(?) to be feared and respected. Dan is a pillager of villages, burner of bridges, and a slayer of kitten-dragons. The Basques often burn prayer cards in his honor in order to prepare themselves for the afterlife. Status:Criminal: His christian name is unknown, but some believe it to be Patrick. He is a practitioner of Solomaic magics, he can summon all manor of demons and spirits. He is believed to have been exiled from the European Union as of 2007.

The Shalitas
The Shalitas; Kazual, Ahneeta, and Lowlita are three bad ass ladies with a love for the rock and the roll. The trio initially formed to belt out backing vocals for famed Philadelphia band, Marah. The girls can be heard groovin' on Marah’s fourth album, “20.000 Streets Under The Sky” as well as their 2005 holiday album, “Christmas Kind of Town” on which the Shalitas also contributed their first original song. The Shalitas unique vocal stylings of infectious harmonies, playground rhymes, chants, and handclaps quickly won them accolades and gigs. With folks clamoring for more the sexy soul sistas put a band together and made their debut performance at North Six in Brooklyn in 2006. The Shalitas have been rocking crowds ever since with their mellifluous blend of playground soul and rock n’ roll. The band has most recently been spotted shakin' their groove thangs in and around New York in such clubs as Irving Plaza, Southpaw, The Mercury Lounge, The Bowery Ballroom playing opening slots for such artists as Jill Cunniff of Luscious Jackson and the ever-rockin’ Detroit Cobras. The Shalitas write emotional lyrics that are seductive, soulful, and fierce. A lover’s kiss one moment, a cat scratch the next. The perfect companion to melodies that are simultaneously edgy, fluid and symphonic. In short, The Shalitas are the answer to the question: “Where has all the good music gone?” They're right here, Baby. Come and get 'em.

Jenny Dee and The Delinquents
Most Boston music fans will recognize Jen D’Angora (a/k/a Jenny Dee) as the singer/guitarist in garage stalwarts The Downbeat 5 as well as punk/pop darlings The Dents. When The Dents split up three years ago and The Downbeat 5 started playing out less frequently, D’Angora started working on a new batch of songs that were slightly different from the material she’d written for her other bands and decided to indulge in her love of the girl group sounds of the 60's. “I’ve been a fan of that music since I was really young and my interest was rejuvenated as I started getting into Blondie and The New York Dolls – their interpretation of songs by the Shangri Las and other groups fascinated me. That’s basically what this record’s about – writing in a style that I love, having a great time, and working with amazing people.” says D’Angora. The Deelinquents formed soon thereafter, with Tony Goddess from Papas Fritas/The Rudds (guitar), Eric Salt (guitar), Phil Aiken (keyboards), Ed Valauskas from The Gravel Pit/The Gentlemen (bass), and Eric Anderson (drums). In addition to the core band, Jen added her sister Beka Dangora and Samantha Goddess to sing harmonies and dance their asses off. Before they played a show, they recorded the single “Keeping Time” with producer Matt Beaudoin (Eli “Paperboy” Reed) at Q Division, which charted in the Top 20 Downloads on Amazon.com. “There isn't a music on earth that better suits D'Angora's voice than girl-group-era R&B, straight-up, and that's what she's singing here - with bonus points for writing songs that hold their own next to the classics. (There's a Daptone-like quality to her recordings that makes you do audio double-takes: are you sure this shit wasn't recorded in 1964?).

The Tulanes
The concept/clever ruse behind the Philadelphia band The Tulanes is so simple, it’s a wonder that more bands aren’t doing it: Form a cover band that abides by only one rule: No ‘hit songs’ allowed! Ever! Each member of the group furiously digs through the vinyl-filled milk crates of their respective minds to unearth forgotten singles, B-sides, deep cuts and shoulda’-been smashes from every conceivable corner of the rock n’ roll universe. Then performs the resurrected obscurities to a dumbfounded public that probably has no idea that they are hearing cover songs. Its all the fun of being an original rock n’ roll band with half of the work! From 50’s Rockabilly, 60’s Garage/Psych, 70’s Glitter, Punk and Power Pop , all the way to Metalized 80’s Butt Rock and beyond. No band or era is off limits for the Tulanes to plunder in their tireless quest for non-hits! One thing is for sure: If it never made the charts/ The Tulanes hold it dear to their hearts! The players in this sexy two gal/two guy lineup can boast a rich Philly underground rock pedigree between the four, with Tulanes members having done time in Thee Minks, Mondo Topless, The Improbables, Sick Kidz, Wastoid, LaResistance, The Stuntmen and Satan’s Riff Raff, to name just a few. And while crafting some non-hits of their very own in the near-future can’t be ruled out, for now the Tulanes just want to keep on serving up some of the best rock n’ roll songs you’ve never heard.

Rangda
Many centuries ago on the island of Java lived the witch queen Mahendradatta. When she was exiled from her kingdom for practicing her dark arts, she took revenge by using her witchcraft to spread chaos among the people. In defeat, she was transformed into Rangda, the demon queen of the leyaks. Rangda leads an army of witches in endless battle against Barong, the force of good. When witch-gods collide, it might sound something like this. Six Organs of Admittance…Richard Bishop…Chris Corsano. Riders of the apocalypse, it’s them vs. us. After absorbing their uber-holy dynamo, you’ll be prepared to join up with these wraiths, making it all of us against…well, whomever’s fool enough to stand in our way. To evil! Rangda’s been building up behind the scenes for some time now. As label mates and members of an exclusive mutual admiration society, Sir Rick and Kid Chasny thirsted for a conflagration involving two electric guitars plus a drummer. In such an environment requiring excellent survival skills as well as composition and improvisation rhythms, who better than Chris Corsano to work the skins? On paper, this was colossal, but actually getting everyone together proved awesomely impossible, with each man in a different city sprawled across the vastness of the United States — not to mention each man’s diverse state of mind sprawled across the vastness of inner space. And so, time passed. Chuckling, the guitar men dreamed of visiting Rangda on our world, working figures on their necks in anticipation. Finally, with the desperate recklessness of the ancient witchsoul herself, they booked a live show, followed by a studio session with Seattle sound guru Scott Colburn. Beforehand, a mere ninety minutes was allotted for the three to further discuss ideas and play together for the very first time. What would happen? What do you think happened, stupid? Of course they planted a garden of lyricism seeded with several compositions and several improvisations! Placed end-to-end, the six pieces of the Rangda saga (part the first) rock from splintering onslaught to soulful meditation and back again with manifest precision — this was a planned attack. Unceasing battery slides suddenly into ritual form with elemental ease. The fretworks of Richard Bishop and Ben Chasny split time while Corsano shapes the air around them. Each players moves as part of the whole of Rangda, and whether surging, cycling, or in pastoral, they are never less than explosive. This initial foray flies under the banner of FALSE FLAG. www.sixorgans.com www.cor-sano.com www.sirrichardbishop.net

The Major Stars
Nobody shreds like Major Stars -— they probably couldn’t if they wanted to. The Boston-based sextet (led by outsider/psych record label owners Wayne Rogers and Kate Biggar of Twisted Village) packs three full-time guitarists, all of whom, it’s fair to say, play lead. While on past Major Stars records, songwriting was treated as a necessary evil, on the group’s latest, Return to Form, precision and concision prove just as important as the guitar squall.

The Parlotones
From Johannesburg, South Africa--The Parlotones are known for their electric, polished stage performances delivered against the backdrop of their deftly crafted and darkly romantic lyrics. Their sound, described as alternative in their formative years and influenced by the likes of Muse, Radiohead and the Smiths, has evolved substantially becoming more refined and focused with each album. The band experiment sonically with their sound and various structures are utilised in their songs, including the typical Doo-Wop cycle or traditional Folk structure. t took the band’s debut album ‘Radiocontrolledrobot’ two years to reach Gold status and their follow up ‘A World Next Door To Yours’ achieved this in a couple of months. Three months later the album was certified Platinum. Testimony to just how much the band has grown over the past few years.’ A World Next Door To Yours’ remained on the South African top 20 sales chart for more than twelve months and, with sales in excess of 80 000, is currently South Africa’s biggest selling rock album of this decade – having achieved Double Platinum Status. The album spurned seven radio singles, a very unique situation.

+/- {Plus/Minus}
NYC act +/- {Plus/Minus} was originally conceived in 2001 as a vehicle for the songs of Versus guitarist James Baluyut, but the act quickly evolved into a full-fledged band, with the addition of fellow Versus guitarist/vocalist Patrick Ramos and drummer Chris Deaner. This new incarnation of +/- {Plus/Minus} was an entirely original construct, layering wistful pop with dynamic and complex arrangements and fusing rich, dense guitar sounds with polyrhythms drummed, strummed and programmed.

Audible
In Simple Intervals is the second album by Philadelphia 6-piece band Audible. Recorded in songwriter Mike Kennedy's home studio (i.e, his bedroom), this ten-song follow-up to Audible’s 2005 Polyvinyl Records debut Sky Signal documents the sound of an unlikely band growing up and moving beyond their early sound. Intervals sees Audible's songwriting becoming more ambitious, retaining its off-kilter sense of melody while reaching towards more robust arrangements and greater sonic texturing. With influences ranging from the clean pop precision of Fleetwood Mac to the ragged guitar interplay of 90s indie legends Polvo (both referenced in two song titles), In Simple Intervals is louder, and quieter, than their previous music. It is the sound of a band challenging, and affirming, their love of making songs.

The Legendary Pink Dots
The Legendary Pink Dots are a Netherlands-based rock band formed in August 1980 in the UK who, although distinctly underground, have been musically influential over the years. The band name was derived from pink dots of nail varnish on the piano in their squat, where founding members Edward and April lived. The band has as its focal point vocalist Edward Ka-Spel, who is, along with Phil “The Silverman” Knight, one of the original remaining members of the band. In the mid eighties the band resettled in the Netherlands, where they still reside today. Apart from Edward and Phil, the line-up has gone through many changes. Members such as Ryan Moore, a Canadian bass player, who joined in 1991 after the recordings of the Last Man to Fly with the Tear Garden (he joined as a session musician), went on to form their own labels and musical projects. See Twilight Circus and M Records. Their music is nothing if not original and it is difficult to categorise, but comparisons may be drawn with bands like Pink Floyd and Can. Their sound has been described as an amalgamation of psychedelic rock, industrial, synth-pop and avant-garde. They have released over 40 records and continuously tour the world.
